Proposed Amendment to Municipal Code <br />SEC. 10.41. B-2 LAKESHORE BUSINESS DISTRICT. <br />Subd. 1. Purpose. The "B-2" Lakeshore Business Cemn>efOHri District was <br />originally intended to provide areas where limited commercial businesses could be located to service <br />boats used for recreational purposes on Lake Minnetonka. However, many of the operators of the <br />lakeshore comru.rcial businesses have stripped the trees and vegetation from the shorelands and have <br />expanded the operations so that now the "B-2" Lakeshore Business Commerctat Districts adversely <br />affect the lake water quality and the real estate values of adjoining properties. The purpose of this <br />Chapter is to provide for additional reasonable regulations of these businesses in a manner that <br />require ponial restoration of the shoreland v egetation; that will serv e to avoid pollution of the lake <br />water and-te insure protection of adjacent residential propenies which have previously suffered from <br />the unregulated expansion of commercial activities, while protecting and enhancing. the_qualitY_ot’ <br />the lake and shoreland environment. <br />Subd. 2. Definitions. <br />A. "Marina Business" means engaein2 in one or more of the permitted., <br />accessory or conditional uses allowed within the B-2 Lakeshore Business PistpeU <br />Subd. 3. License Required. Each marina business within the "B-2" Lakeshore <br />Business District shall obtain an annual marina business license per the provisions of the Oropg <br />Municipal Code. <br />Subdr^T Subd. 4. Application. All applications for a building permit in any withip <br />the "B-2" Lakeshore Commercial Business District shall be reviewed by the Council and may be <br />referreci to the Planning Commission and/or a specially appointed Lake Use Committee for review. <br />Subd.-^ Subd. 5. Permitted Uses. Within the "B-2" Lakeshore Business District, <br />no land or structure shall be used except for one or more of the following uses; <br />A. Repairs. Repair and servicing of bootsr Rental of in-water boat slips, <br />B. Storage^—Winter storage of boats. Sales of boats, motors, trailers and, <br />marine accessories. <br />C. Sales, etc. Sale and rental of boats, motors, fishing equipment and sale <br />of fuel, boats, boat supplier., bait and marine item&r Repair and servicing of boats.. <br />D. On-land storage of boats, winter and summer. <br />1
