Box 66 <br />Crystal Bay, MN 55323 <br />July 11, 1995 <br />Dear Planning Comnission: <br />Request for Building Permit & Variance <br />My wife purchased the property located at 2775 Shadywood Road in the <br />city of Orono on July 21, 1994. We have a request for a building <br />permit pending with Mr. Lyle Oman for an addition to the existing <br />house. He told our builder that we \rauld need council approval. <br />The prior owners were granted a variance oti Resolution of the City <br />Council No. 2115 dated February 23, 1987. A copy is attached for <br />your revie"-/. <br />4 <br />N <br />This variance states in part, "cin increase of hardcover will not <br />be approved, auid might be approved only with concurrent removals <br />of existing hardcover resulting in no net increase in Imrdcover <br />on the property." <br />/V <br />N <br />\ <br />P <br />This building permit request will result in a net DECREASE in <br />hardcover on the property because we will ranove the plastic <br />under the flower beds in the front of the house prior to the <br />start of construction. The hardcover results will be as follows: <br />0-75' setback zone- No change <br />75'-250' setbaek zone- <br />Current coverage 6,177'^/ft. (37.6%) <br />Net addition + 200 ft. <br />Ranove plastic - 758 ft. <br />Net coverage 5,61^sq. ft.(34.2%) <br />This request therefore results in a reduction of hardcover as to <br />’.^hat currently exists as approved by the Council in 1987. <br />A copy of the sur/ey is also attached shcnring the proposed <br />addition and th*» yvaa xdiere the hardcover will be removed from <br />the rock beds. <br />My wife and I hope this informaticai, combined with the information <br />that Mr. Oman has. will be sufficient to warrant approval by the <br />Council for a change in the variance, if necessary, and for <br />approval of the building permit. <br />incerely. <br />ge E.
