One option is <br />a 4-1/2x4-1/2 ’ single sided sign to be attached to the facility The other alternative is a <br />fiee-standing sign, 4-1 /2x4-1 !2\ smaller than originally proposed, but located in the same <br />place at a lower height The entrance pylon is also reduced in size to 4'x4 ’ at a height of <br />I3'8 ’’. The sign contractor has provided the electrical specifications as required. New <br />Horizon will install timers on the sians and turn the lights off at a prescribed time if <br />recommended as the facility is in a residential area Smith asked if this was at the request <br />of the City or a company policy Beigeii said tireie was no set company [K)licy Such <br />determinations were made by the neighborhood within the City the child care center is <br />located If the center is in a commercial setting. New Horizon generally does not put <br />timers on their illuminated signs The child care center in Wayzata was noted as being in a <br />commercial zone with similar lighting and brightness of illumination. <br />Lindquist recommended the entrance sign include the verbage, "entrance". Smith and <br />Rowlette agreed as the entrance is difficult to detect. <br />There were no public comments. <br />Lindquist moved. Smith seconded, to approve Application #2026 for one sign on the <br />building, option #1, an entry sign with additional verbage to indicate the entrance, and an <br />illuminated apron, both apron and building sign's illumination to be controlled by timers. <br />Appropriate hours of illumination will be worked out with Staff. The fencing will replace a former privacy <br />fence. The height of the fence averages 6 to 6-1/2' in height with T at center posts and 5' <br />at the mid section. The fencing is located out of the 75* setback area and will be <br />reinstalled on the side lot line. The average lakeshore setback is met, and the fence will <br />have no visual impact on the seasonal cabin next door. <br />Lindquist asked if the 1977 survey is the latest survey available. Mabusth said it was and <br />noted that the lot lines have not changed
