MINUTES OF THE ORONO PLANNING CONLMISSION <br />NtEETING HELD ON MARCH 7, 1995 <br />PUBLIC INTORMATION MEETING - FOLTITH WORKSHOP <br />PROPOSED AMENDMENT OF ZONING CODE TO ALLOW DOMESTIC ABUSE <br />SHELTER AT PROPERTY LOCATED AT 2380 SHADYWOOD ROAD <br />?<> - Planninsi Commission Recommendation to the Council - Continued) <br />Smith reponed that it was ver>- difficult to rely on the statistics available The police <br />department had little information, and she found it very confusing She said performance <br />standards have been set for the shelters in .Minnetonka and Plymouth The Planning <br />Commission would be setting critena for the facility use and the parking lot ar^ answer <br />the concern about vehicles coming and going. She suppons the project and residential <br />zoninii with conditional use She feels there is no need for re/oning to commercial. <br />Schroeder moved. Smith seconded, to recommend that the Council permit the Planning <br />Commission to look at rev iew ing the zoning code with respect to a shelter of this type as a <br />conditional use permit. StatT will look at controls and pertormance standards tor an <br />amendment of the code and report back to the Planning Commission A\es 7, Nays 0. <br />The public is invited to attend the Council meeting, formal Planning Commission meeting, <br />and public hearings for the formal recommendation to the Council to change the LR-lC <br />code for this use Smith invited the public to write letters e.xpressing their opinions. <br />Schroeder reported that the Council ultimately makes the decision on the CUP for the <br />shelter Mabusth reported that public comments of this meeting w ill be part of the official <br />record for the Council’s rev iew <br />Richard Meyer asked if this shelter would require oark dedication fees Schroeder <br />indicated it would not since it is not a subdivision.
