MINUTES OF THE ORONO PLANNING COMMISSlOf <br />MEETING HELD ON MAY 15. 1995 <br />(#8 - #2015 - Mark Harrington - Continued) <br />A height variance is necessary. Measurements were taken at the garage level. '-1/2' of fill <br />will be added to gain positive drainage from the garage area There will be a tra» sition <br />space from the old and new construction in an attempt to stay above the septic I* vd. <br />A conditional use permit will be required for a guest apartment on the upper level of the <br />addition This will be non-rental and serve as a mother-in-law type apartment Access <br />from the principal structure will be via a hallway There will be three entrances. One <br />entrance from the outside will be by the mudroom Another entrance will be off the <br />garage, with travd through the garage and up the fuJlway to the apartment. Another <br />entrance will be at the lower level basement. The basement will be accessed by a stairwell <br />but will not be finished at this time. <br />Mabusth informed the commissioners that future plan call for removal and replacement of <br />the original structure The application is the first step in the improvement process <br />Another addition will be placed in line with this proposed structure. <br />Nolan asked about the pine trees in front of the residence. Amot said trees have already <br />been moved, and the trees there now will remain. <br />Amot said the county has given their approval for the driveway. <br />There were no public comments. <br />Peterson said, while the Planning Commission normally takes a strong stance on grant <br />height variances, this is not an issue here. <br />Berg moved, Nolan seconded, to approve Application #2015 with the four Staff <br />recommendations and additional conditions as follows; 5) receipt of County perimt for <br />new driveway; 6) closing off the old driveway; and 7) obtaining demolition permit fiw the <br />removal of the garage.
