MINUTES OF THE ORONO PLANNING COMMISSION <br />MEETING HELD ON AUGUST 19, 1996 <br />(#4 - #2151 John and Janice Hurd - Continued) <br />Peterson reviewed the variances required of hardcover in the 250-500 ^tback and <br />average lakeshore setback He noted his own view' of being consistent m not voting for <br />average lakeshore setbacks as a matter of principle The application was tabled from the <br />last Planning Commission meeting in order to respond to the concerns of the neighbors. <br />This seems to have been rectified by the adjustments made in the plan to eliminate any <br />leapfrog effect Peterson commented that the boat house is in excellent condition and <br />seems appropriate to allow it to renuun. <br />Stoddard was informed by Coombs that the new placement of the home will be held to a <br />line from the Thielmann's home and recorded on a survey Thielmann acknowledged that <br />the approval should include the survey. <br />Smith said she did have a concern over the lakeshore setback. Hurd said the home now <br />exists much further into the setback If the home was moved back any further, it would <br />create an even deeper tunnel effect <br />Coombs said he believed the Grundeen's home would be remodeled at some point. With <br />the drawing of the imagi nary line, it would keep their home within that setback also. <br />Stoddard moved. Hawn seconded, to recommend approval as submitted with the addition <br />of the survey line included in the approval. Vote; Ayes 4, Nays 1, Peterson, due to the <br />principle of the average lakeshore setback.
