This document represents the Schematic Design Phase of the design process <br />for the new Ice Arena The preliminary concepts for organizing the program <br />components into a building and site plan have been confirmed in this phase. <br />The design process has been inclusive, with input gathered from a number of <br />interested participants, t'sing the previously completed predesign document <br />as a "target”, the design process explored many alternative relationships <br />between program components, and two different design concepts for the <br />exterior expression. The final schematic plans, as represented in this <br />document, are the most succesful resolution of the project budget, functional <br />requirements and aesthetic concerns. <br />This report also includes updated engineering reports. The technical systems <br />are desenbed to establish a quality baseline for the project in relation to the <br />budget. The specifics of each engineering system and building material will <br />be discussed and finalized during subsequent phases. <br />The next phase of design will be Design Development. During that phase, <br />we will refine the plans, make desisions about layouts within rooms, define <br />materials and systems to be used for constructing the building, and do more <br />precise cost estimates. The TR-VHGA/KA design team will continue to <br />listen and work with building users, governing agencies, and the Orono <br />Hockey Association throughout the remaining design phases.
