Submit annual progress report to MWCC (MCWS) <br />The City has followed through with this program as follows: <br />1993 - Established and commenced a sump pump inspection program o <br />identify illegal connections and require changes to private <br />ijlumbing systems when iUegal connections are encountered. To <br />date, approximately 200 of Orono's sewered propemes have <br />been inspected and 12 Ulegal connections have been identified <br />and converted to a legal status. <br />1994 - Adopted Ordinance # 129 prohibiting discharge of groundwater <br />and stormwater to the sewer system (The sump pump impection <br />program was initiated under an earlier ordinance). Ordinance <br />#129 establishes a SlOO per month surcharge for properties not m <br />compliance. <br />1994 - Established a public education program regarding I/I. induing <br />disnibution of information brochures and availability of staff for <br />answering queries. <br />1995 -The City has been spending approximately S65,(X)0 per year to <br />replace its oldest lift stations which have some of the greatest <br />inflow problems. In 1995 the City completed inspections of <br />manholes lift stations and sewer lines in the Saga Hill area - the <br />^taown to to have some of the greatest I/I problems. These <br />inspections have identified specific manholes and lift stations to <br />be sealed in 1996.
