MINUTES OF THE ORONO PLANNING COMMISSION <br />MEETING HELD ON JANUARY 16. 1996 <br />(#10 - #2097 Patricia Guttormson - Continued) <br />Smith asked if the contractor completed the woric and didn't realize the need for the <br />variance. It was noted that the work was completed by a family member. Mabusth said a <br />permit had been received for the repairs. In order to approve the structural repairs, <br />however, a varii^nce was needed. Smith said if the application had originally come before <br />the Commissiori. the Commission would more than likely ask for the structure to be <br />moved back away from the shoreline. Schroeder responded that there is no place in which <br />to move the structure, adding that there are no increases in structural amount, and the <br />application wiU result in meeting the lOt coverage requirement. <br />Mabusth commented that the applicant was asked to consider removing paving <br />improvemerns The addendum notes that there is no parking on the road The applicant <br />needs off-street parking space and requested not having to remove the paving. <br />There were no public comments. <br />Schroeder moved, Lindquist seconded, to approve Application #2097 for lakeshore <br />setback, rear setback, hardcover, and lakeshore setback variances due to the hardships set <br />forth in the hardship statement and due to improvements made towards meeting <br />requirements. The approval includes the notation of the hardcover reduction as noted <br />which must be completed prior to the footing inspection for deck improvement. Vote; <br />Ayes 4, Nays 0. <br />(#11) #2098 KARI AND PAUL ROMPORTL, 4101 HIGHWOOD ROAD - <br />VARIANCES - PUBUC BEARING - 10:11-10:37 P.M. <br />The Certificate of Mailing and Affidavit of Publication were noted. <br />The Applicams, along with their representative, Stu Hoam, were present. <br />Gaffion reported having received neighborhood letters regarding the application, "^e <br />house to the west has been for sale. That owner voiced indifference to the application. <br />Other neighbors were in favor of the application. The owner, Eva Theobald, is not in <br />good health. Her realtor reported that she is in agreement with the application and has <br />sold the property to the Romportl ’s contingent on application approval.
