Swanson <br />2995 Jamestown Road <br />Long Lake, MN 55356 <br />Re: Orono Ice Arena <br />Dear Mr. Swanson: <br />As you have seen in the notice from the City of <br />Orono, it has scheduled a continuation of the public hearing <br />on the zoning for our indoor ice arena project for 8:30 p.m. <br />on Tuesday, February 20, at the Orono City Council Chambers. <br />Based on our meeting on January 24, we have <br />included the following issues in our ongoing preparation for <br />development of the project: <br />• the berming and screening of the project <br />along the west property line <br />• the composition and appearance of the <br />exterior vertical walls of the project, and <br />the treatment of the vertical face of the <br />project along County 6 <br />• lighting <br />• landscaping <br />• air handling and other project operating <br />noise <br />• restrictions on types and hour.s >1 .;je, and <br />appropriate recognition of the liriaiity of <br />those restrictions <br />• concerns about the operating entity for the <br />project, including a demonstration of its <br />community-based purpose and thought about <br />board representation or other approaches to <br />regulating that purpose <br />Mark Engebretson President 475*3460
