• •CANUTES OF THE REGULAR ORONO Cm' COUNCIL <br />MEETING HELD ON SEPTEMBER 23,1996 <br />(*#I4) PAYMENT REQUEST #3 - WILLOW DRIVT RECONSTRUCTION <br />PROJECT <br />Huit moved, Goelten seconded, to approve Pay Request #3 for the Willow Drive project <br />in the amount of $40,550 86 Vote: Ayes 4, Nays 0. <br />(•#15) PAY MENT REQUEST #1 - LIFT STATION #28 RENOVATION <br />Hurr moved, Goetten seconded, to approve Pay Request #l for the lift station #28 <br />renovation project in the amount of $5,061 89 V'ote; Ayes 4, Nays 0. <br />CITY' ADMINISTRATOR’S REPORT <br />(#16) APPOLNTMENT OF ALTERNATE TO CABLE COMYIISSION <br />Moorse said this was a follow through to a request made by an Orono resident who has <br />volunteered his time and effort to serve on the cable commission during this time period <br />of franchise renewal Fred Blanch has offered his serv ices as an alternate to provide the <br />benefit of his background. <br />Hurr moved. Jabbour seconded, to appoint Fred Blanch to a one-year term as an <br />alternate member to the Lake Minnetonka Communications Commission, effective <br />September 23, 1996 V’ote Ayes 4, Nays 0. <br />(#17) FOOD-GRADE HY DRAULIC FLUID FOR FLOOR HOISTS IN PUBLIC <br />WORKS BUILDING <br />Moorse reported that the request is to change the fluid used in the hydraulic floor hoists <br />located in the Public Works Building from a petroleum based fluid to a food grade fluid. <br />The hydraulic fluid is considered a hazardous material and could require a costly clean up <br />if spilled or leaked The alternate fluid is vegetable oil which is not hazardous <br />Jabbour said the food grade should have been used from the beginning. <br />Callahan asked what costs are involved once it is in Moorse said the cost is $2785 to <br />take out the old and put in the new fluid. No ongoing costs are involved. Callahan asked <br />the Staff to take caution in the removal of the hydraulic fluid so no contamination occurs. <br />Moorse said caution will be taken. The work is to be performed by T&T Maintenance. <br />Hurr moved, Jabbour seconded, that in order to prev ent potential soil and groundwater <br />contamination, the Public Works Department is authorized to remove petroleum-based <br />hydraulic fluids from the floor hoists and replace it with food-grade hydraulic fluid at a <br />cost not to exceed $2,785, and that the budget of the Building Capital Outlay Fund be <br />adjusted to reflect these expenditures. Vote; Ayes 4, Nays 0. <br />I
