A RESOLUTION GRANTING A VARIANCE <br />TO MUNICIPAL ZONING CODE <br />SECTION 10.03, SUBDIVISION 14 (C) <br />FILE NO. 2172 <br />WHEREAS, Gerald L. Bloms and Nancy C. Bloms (hereinafter "the applicants") <br />are the owners of the property located at 4195 Forest Lake Drive within the City of Orono <br />(hereinafter "the City") and legally described as follows: <br />Lot 6, Block 3, Forest Arms Country Club Addition, according to the recorded <br />plat thereof, Hennepin County, Minnesota (hereinafter "the property"); and <br />WHEREAS, the applicants have applied to the City for a variance to Municipal <br />Zoning Code Section 10.03, Subdivision 14 (C) to permit construction of a 12’ x 14.6' main <br />level deck at the southwest comer of the existing residence that will result in an increase of <br />168 s.f. of 1.1% structural coverage where 15.7% exists and a total of 16.8% is proposed where <br />only 15% is allowed. <br />Minnesota: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Orono, <br />FINDINGS <br />1. <br />2. <br />3. <br />This application was reviewed as Zoning File #2172. <br />The property is located in the LR-IB, Single Family Lakeshore Residential <br />Zoning District requiring one acre in area. The property consists of 15,832 s.f. <br />The Orono Planning Commission reviewed this application on September 16, <br />1996 and recommended approval of the variance as proposed based upon the <br />following unique findings and hardships: <br />A. Stmctural coverage on this property is consistent with structural coverage <br />found on developed properties within the Forest Arms Country Club <br />Addition. <br />Page 1 of 4
