I have been working with <br />Dahlgren, Shardlow and Uban, Inc. (DSU) to formulate a strategy for digitizing the various <br />maps used by the City on a daily basis, as a first step in creation of a CIS database. This <br />$4,000 will cover the work needed to convert our AutoCAD topographic maps to a format that <br />can be read by Arcinfo, thereby allowing topography to be overlaid onto the City plat map. <br />It will also cover the costs of a final parcel-base plat map, yielding City boundary maps, a <br />street and road centerline map and a MUSA map. <br />We have identified a comprehensive list of maps to be digitized in order to create Arcinfo <br />coverages with applicability to all City departments. Staff will be proposing that an additional <br />budget line item be included in the 1997-1999 budgets in order to complete these mapping <br />upgrades. <br />Staff Recommendation <br />Staff recommends the expenditure of $4,000 for the initial phases of digital mapping by DSU, <br />Inc. per the attached contract. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED: <br />Authorize the expenditure of $4,000 for digital mapping work. <br />PROPOSED MOTION: Moved by ____, seconded by <br />digital mapping services at a cost of $4,000.
