NIN 55344 (612)832-6170 p'leno. <br />June 11.1996 <br />•« ■ t <br />Kenath and Donna Stein <br />3400 North Shore Drive <br />Wa'-zata, MN 55391 <br />Dear Mr. and Mrs. Stein: <br />Over the last few years the Department of Natural Resources in cooperation with the City of <br />Orono and Hennepin County have been working toward creation of a public access at the <br />intersection of County Roads 5 1 and 135. As part of the plans for the access the City asked that <br />portions of these two County Roads be upgraded to help accommodate the traffic that will be <br />using this access <br />Enclosed for your review is a copy of the preliminary design plans for the proposed road <br />improvements. The work will consist of adding a right turn lane on westbound County Road 51 <br />to northbound County Road 135. It will also add a through lane on eastbound County Road 51 <br />All of this work will be done within the existing County Highway right-of-way, and will not <br />encroach into your property. The pavement will be widened slightly within the right-of-way. <br />The impact of new curbing and finish grading will be the greatest at the comer, where an <br />additional 10 ’ of existing right-of-way wall be used. <br />This road project is being built to conform with Minnesota State Aid standards and has the full <br />review authority of Hennepin County. The Department of Natural Resources is responsible for <br />the design work and overseeing the contract. <br />Should you have any questions or comments regarding this project please feel free to contact me <br />at 832-6170.
