Wayzata Council Meeting <br />On April 3 there was a working session with <br />MnDOT and the Wayzata City Council and resi­ <br />dents from the Femdale Road area Tom <br />O'Keefe and Patty token, MnDOT representa­ <br />tives, had maps for review and presented the al­ <br />ternatives under consideration The issue focused <br />upon was the interchange at Highway 12 and <br />Femdale Road <br />During the working session from 5-7 p.m several <br />things occurred: <br />1 . The Wayzata Chamber of Coiumcrcc spoke <br />out against this plan saying it would not be <br />beneficial to the businesses of Wayzata.. <br />particularly retail. <br />2. The CoutKil said they had received letters of <br />opposiuon to this tntcrchangc from Wayzata <br />Community Church and Redeemer Lutheran <br />Church <br />3. Plymouth Mayor Jov Tierney, Council mem­ <br />bers Tim Wold and Christian Preus stated <br />Plymouth's position of opposition to <br />MnDOTs design. <br />4. MnDOT and the Council also heard from <br />residents at the meeting why they arc op ­ <br />posed to this project <br />During the Council Meeting at 7 p m there was <br />lengthy discussion between residents and Council <br />members about this issue There was also in at­ <br />tendance a representative from the engineering <br />consulting firm that has evaluated the traffic <br />counts for Wayzata and MnDOT to answer our <br />questions regarding procedures and forecasting <br />done from these counts <br />By 9pm the Council had drafted a strongly <br />worded resolution stating absolute opposition to <br />any interchange at Hwy 12 and Femdale Road <br />Orono Council Meetings <br />Our committee has spoken twice to the Orono <br />City Council, March 25 and April 8. to inform <br />them of our efforts to stop an interchange at Hwy <br />12 and Femdale Road and to ask them for their <br />support They stand on their 1991 resolution <br />which favored staying on existing Hwy 12 with <br />any expansion <br />Plymouth Council Meeting <br />At a March 20 Council meeting, Plymouth passed <br />three resolutions dealing with the Femdale inter­ <br />change proposal <br />1. .^<> imerchangc at Hwy 12 and Femdale <br />Road in any design MnDOT proposes <br />2 Investigating a task force with the Mayors <br />and Cities of Wavzata. Orono and PIv-• <br />mouth whether or not a united stand in <br />addition to individual positions would be <br />helpful in defeating the interchange <br />3.
