The wetland delineation is acceptable.
Tlic wetland is not identified on either the National Wetlands Inventory or the Cirv of Orono'.s
# i»
Wetlands Invcntor>’ Map. llie wetland is regulated by the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District at
tlte State level as part of the Wetland Conser\'ation Act (WC.A). and under the jurisdiction of the
U.S. .Army Corps of Engineers (COE) at the Federal level. E.xcavation within wetlands does not
require approval from the WCA. Unless the ^x>nd is modified, it will not meet the requirements of
the COE General Permit No. IS for e.xcavation of a wildlife pond and specific approval troin the
COE should be obtained prior to beginning the work.
The tributaty' drainage area to the pond is approximately S acres. The pond outlet is a drainageway
that runs under Tonkawa Road to Stubbs Bay. The proposed pond would provide runoff storage
volume which would have a beneficial effect on the drainageway and reduce the potential for
erosion. The propo.sed pond is acceptable from an engincenng standpoint and we would recommend
approval based on this tunciion.
The grading plan shows a pond depth of four feet with side slopes at 4 to 1 (horizontal to vertical).
We would recommend that the grading plan be revised to show more gradual slopes (8 to 1) in
accordance with General Permit No. 18. Silt fence should be installed at the pond outlet pru>r to
any grading. The disturbed areas should be seeded with a wetland mixture such as .MnDOT 250.
Please coniact me at this office if you liave any questions regarding this matter.
Yours very truly.
BONESIROO, ROSENE, ANDERLIK & ASSOCIATES, INC.
J/’
Shawn D.
