Box 66 <br />Crystal Bay, MN 55323 <br />Dear Mayor and Counciliriembers of Orono, <br />WeCAN requests the City of Orono renew your allocation <br />to us from Coramunitv Development Block Grant funds. We <br />ask you for $1,500 this year - the same amount as last <br />year. We thank you again for your generous support in <br />the past several years -- you are a key reason for the <br />accomplishments KeCAN had in 1995! <br />WeCAN is a community-based human service organization, <br />dedicated to helping people achieve greater self- <br />sufficiency and family stability. WeCAN provides a <br />variety of services to low—income residents in western <br />Hennepin County. <br />WeCAN served 1,257 families in 1995. This includes 28 <br />households in Oronoi Seven Orono families received <br />Emergency Assistance of $1,340. Six Orono households <br />received 416 Meals On Wheels. Ten Orono residents <br />received Job Placement and Development Services. Four <br />Orono households received Public Assistance Iir*'ake <br />Services. One Orono household received 10 hours of <br />mental health counseling. <br />I am looking forward to attending your March 11 public <br />hearing to share more information about our services <br />and our organization.
