Gaffron <br />Tide Assistant Planning & Zoning Administrator <br />Administrator Reviewed: <br />tj/^7 <br />Agenda Section: <br />City Administrator <br />Item Description: Highway 12 Zoning Study - Ordinance to Extend Moratorium <br />On August 14. 1995 the Council adopted Ordinance No. 139, Second Series, establishing a <br />moratorium on preliminary subdivision approvals, rezoning. PCD or issuance of building permits <br />for properties within the defined Highway 12 corridor. The corridor includes the area of Orono south <br />of County Road 6 and north of the Burlington Northern railroad tracks, east of the intersection of 6 <br />and 12 and west of Willow Drive. <br />The moratorium was established to allow the City an opportunity to study whether the current <br />zoning provisions for this area are appropriate. While the Council has held an initial joint work <br />session on this topic, the study has not been completed. The moratorium will expire January 22, <br />1996 unless the Council adopts an ordinance to extend it for up to an additional 18 months. <br />Staff recommends adoption of the attached ordinance to extend the moratorium for an additional 6 <br />months to Julv 22, 1996. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED: <br />Adopt ordinance to extend moratorium for an additional 6 months <br />PROPOSED MOTION: Moved by.. seconded bv ., to adopt Ordinance No. <br />Second Series, extending the Highway 12 Corridor moratorium to July 22. 1996.
