The City of Orono is an Equal Opportunity Employer <br /> <br />CITY OF ORONO <br /> <br />Position Title: Firefighter/Fire Inspector <br />Document Date: August 24, 2023 <br />Department: Fire <br />Accountable to: Deputy Chief of Training <br />FLSA Status: Non-exempt <br /> <br />Nature of Work <br />The Firefighter/Fire Inspector conducts fire and life safety inspections for all use groups <br />accordance to the Minnesota Fire Code. The also coordinate fire safety and prevention <br />initiatives. They also respond to calls for service while on shift. <br /> <br />Supervision Received and Exercised <br />The Firefighter/Fire Inspector administers, manages, coordinates, and performs a variety of <br />responsible and complex duties. This position also includes technical, administrative, and fire <br />code enforcement for the City of Orono. Assist with providing education to business and <br />residents with ongoing fire safety and prevention programs. This position will respond to <br />emergency calls for service and perform firefighter duties. <br />Examples of Work <br />Essential functions listed below are intended as illustrations of the various types of work that <br />may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them if the <br />work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position. <br /> <br />• Inspect buildings to locate hazardous conditions and fire code violations and unsafe <br />conditions. <br />• Inspect properties that store, handle, and use hazardous materials to ensure compliance with <br />laws codes and regulations. <br />• Identify corrective actions necessary to bring properties into compliance with applicable fire <br />codes laws regulations and standards. Communicate corrective measures to public. <br />• Respond to emergency scenes and situations as required. <br />• Conduct acceptance testing of newly installed fire protection systems. <br />• Inspect and test fire protection systems to verify that such systems operate in
