Minimum Requirements • be at least 18 years old • have a high school diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma. • have a valid Minnesota Class D Driver’s License or equivalent out-of-state driver’s license • live or work within 15 minutes of either fire station for a Paid-On-Call Firefighter • complete an oral interview • pass a physical and psychological exam • pass a background investigation • pass a firefighter agility test • complete a probation period • complete the requirement for basic firefighter training • complete the requirement for first responder training • be available for a reasonable number of fire calls, drills, and meetings • within two years of hiring, certification for: o Firefighter I & II Fire Service Certification o Hazardous Materials – Operational Level o EMR or EMT • successfully passes periodic cardiovascular fitness evaluation, respiratory function test, and physical ability evaluation as prescribed by Fire Department standards.
