The <br />DNR is responsible for open burning within the state and delegates administration to local units <br />of government though the appointment of fire wardens. Since this program will be administered <br />through the Public Services Department, we are recommending that the Public Services Director <br />be designated as the fire warden. The fire warden can then delegate the issuance of permits and <br />site inspections to other staff members. Site inspections will be conducted by inspectors in the <br />^blic services Department.
