MINUTES OF THE REGULAR ORONO CITY COUNCIL <br />MEETING HELD ON JULY 28,1997 <br />(#14) #2268 ROBERT CALLAN, 2995 DEER RUN TRAIL - VARIANCE <br />Jabbour moved, Kelley seconded, to table Application #2268, Robert Callan, 2995 Deer <br />Run Trail, to the August 11 Council meeting. Vote: Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />(*#15) #2273 MORGAN NELSON, 3145 JAMESTOWN ROAD - VARIANCE - <br />RESOLUTION NO. 3942 <br />Gotten moved, Peterson seconded, to adopt Resolution No. 3942, granting a lakeshore <br />setback variance for construction of a gazebo at 3145 Jamestown Road. Vote- Aves 5 Nays 0. • / » <br />MAYOR/COUNCIL REPORT <br />Goetten reported that Orono resident. Summer Taylor, came to the last Highway 12 <br />Design Committee Meeting with a petition requesting that the Stubbs Bay Road access <br />to Highway 12 be closed as soon as possible. Goetten said she is unsure whether this <br />road should be closed but would like to see the Council respond to this request. <br />Jabbour said he feels the road should be closed but the City needs to investigate whether <br />they are able to receive the 5% rebate from the railroad which is available when a <br />railroad crossing is eliminated. <br />Ba^ett cautioned the Council that the decision to close the road would be irrevocable <br />and difficult to gain back if it was abandoned. <br />Jabbour said the commitment would not be made at this time. <br />Kelley indicated that this road would be closed when Highway 12 reconstruction <br />occurred but reiterated Barrett's concern. Kelley said it was vital to make the residents <br />aware of a delayed response from the fire and police departments if such closure <br />occurred. He indicated that a letter should be sent to the residents regarding this <br />ramification. <br />I
