MINUTES OF THE REGULAR ORONO CITY COUNCIL <br />MEETING HELD ON JULY 14,1997 <br />CONTINUATION OF MAYOR/COUNCIL REPORT <br />Jabbour indicMed he attended .he recent LMCD meeting after a lengthy discussion with <br />the DNR on how to improve the lake environment. He asked the LMCD to correO then <br />procedures regarding future planning. He indicated that it is the <br />LMCD to provide educational classes and review density issues. He ask^ the LMCD to <br />revisit these issues which would encourage representation by the City of Orono. He <br />noted that the ra^ority of the LMCD commissioners are new, and he ask^ what their <br />visions are, whether for zoning and planning, milfoil, etc. to educate the City v*o to s«d <br />to the mect'jigs. Jabbour indicated that the representative for the City of Minnetonka has <br />retigCw and has not yet been replaced. <br />Jabbour said he felt it could be a good time to start attending the LMCD meeting again. <br />He asked the Council to review the issue for a decision at the next Council meeUng. <br />Jabbour feds the City has done more for the liAe than any other agency and has urged <br />the DNR not to leave thdr fidudary responsibility regarding public access. <br />Jabbour said he has met with previous Mayor, Ed Callahan, suggesting a work ses^n <br />with the consulting engineer for the design of the Hwy 12/CoRd 6 intersection to educate <br />all members. He noted the major design tinutations to the intersection. <br />Goetten noted that the Highway 12 Design Committee is scheduled to inert on <br />Wednesday, July 16. The noted intersection was originally on the agenda but has been <br />removed and will not be itiscussed. <br />Kelley asked if the information relating to the Fire Department Commission was ^ay<^ <br />at the last meeting. Moorse said the Coundl authorized the purchase of one truck and is <br />in the process of gaining more information regarding the second vehicle. The pro-irted <br />share of ownership was noted. Kelley said he would like to see this ownership on the <br />title for the vehicle. Moorse noted that tins is the first veWcle purcha^ under <br />program. Kelley asked that the title be seen. He also verified discussion of the City's <br />budgeted reserves for fire veWcle replacement. <br />ENGINEER REPORT <br />(*#«) PAY REQUEST #2 OLD CRYSTAL BAY ROAD BIKE TRAIL <br />Goetten moved. Peterson seconded, to approve Request for Payment #2, Old Cr^al ^y <br />Road Trail Project, to Bufialo Bituminous in the amount of $64,076.75. Vote: Ayes 5, <br />Nays 0.
