Briefly, this property has a non-conforming <br />septic system due to lack of separation from the seasonal water table. The only feasible location <br />for replacement of the existing system is 97' from the OHW of French Lake, where a 150' setback <br />is required because French Lake is a defined Natural Environment Lake. <br />There are no feasible alternative locations for a new septic system on this property. Staff is of <br />the opinion that the system in the location proposed will have a positive impact on the quality of <br />French Lake by replacing a non-conforming system with one that is conforming to the required <br />vertical separation. <br />Planning Commission Recommendation <br />Planning Commission recommended approval on a vote of 5-0 at their June 16th meeting. <br />Stan’ Recommendation <br />Staff recommends approval per the attached resolution. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED: <br />Adopt the attached resolution. <br />Proposed Motion; Moved by ________, seconded by _______, to grant a variance for septic <br />system lakeshore setback for 2245 French Lake Road.
