L <br />a. You must postpone the decision on the need for an EIS for up to 30 days so that you <br />can obtain the information you need; or, <br />b. You may proceed to prepare an EIS and obtain the information as part of the EIS <br />process. <br />4. Notification process if your decision is postponed: You must provide a written notice <br />within five working days to the proposer, the EQB staff, and anyone who submitted <br />substantive comments on the EAW. This notice must identify what further information <br />you need to make your decision. <br />5. Notification process if your decision is to prepare an EIS: <br />a. Timing and audiences: A notice of your decision to prepare an EIS is to be sent within <br />five working days to the project proposer, EQB staff, all persons on the EAW <br />• distribution list, all persons who commented, and anyone else who requests <br />notification. In addition to the notice, all persons who submitted timely, substantive <br />comments must receive a copy of your response to their comments. The EQB will <br />publish the notice of your decision in the EQB Monitor. <br />b. Content: your notice must include your decision to prepare an EIS, your proposed <br />scope of the EIS and the date, time and place of the scoping meeting. Please call me <br />to coordinate the date of the scoping meeting with the publication date of the EQB <br />Monitor: The scoping meeting must occur between 10 working days and 20 calendar <br />days after publication of the notice in the EQB Monitor.
