MINUTES OF THE REGULAR ORONO CITY COUNCIL <br />MEETING HELD ON MARCH 10,1997 <br />(#13 - Telecommunications Policy Statement - Continued) <br />Alexander asked the Council to create a permitted use without requiring a CUP. <br />Alexander said this would allow the companies to know the guide lines before entering <br />the City. <br />Kelley said a CUP should be required in any other location in the City except on water <br />towers. <br />Jabbour, Goetten, and Peterson said no antennas will be allowed in residential areas. <br />Jabbour reconunended adoption of the policy noting it can be amended at a later date. <br />Flint said he was informed by a representative of Sprint regarding incentives for <br />placement of antennas. <br />Kelley noted the technology’ was constantly changing and would continue to do so. <br />Goetten moved, Peterson seconded, to approve the policy statement regarding wireless <br />telecommunications antennas and towers. Vote: Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />(#14) ORDINANCE AMENDMENT RELATED TO TELECOMMUNICATIONS <br />TOWERS AND ANTENNAS <br />Goetten moved, Peterson seconded, to approve the ordinance amending the City code to <br />prohibit telecommunications towers and antenna structures in the Industrial, B1 and B3 <br />zones. <br />Kelley said he felt the ordinance should be rewritten to include more specific language <br />regarding antennas. <br />Peterson moved, Goetten seconded, to table the ordinance and directed Staff to discuss <br />with Council regarding the language of the ordinance. <br />Radio said the current moratorium regarding telecommunication towers and antennas <br />could be extended at the March 24 Council meeting. <br />Vote: Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />(*#15) TAX FORFEIT PROPERTY - RELEASE TO ADJACENT OWNER <br />RESOLUTION NO. 3853 <br />Goetten moved, Peterson seconded, to adopt Resolution No. 3853 releasing Parcel <br />Number 17-117-23 43 0072 for private sale to adjacent property owners for combination <br />with an adjacent homestead lot. Vote: Ayes 4, Nays 0.
