Kevin & Deborah Thompson
90 Myrtlewood Road
P.O. Box 794
Orono, MN 65391
(612) 476-9087
RECEIVED
MAR 1 8 1997
CITY OF ORONO
March 13, 1997
To the Mayor and City Council of Orono:
We have seen the map from the City of Wayzata showing their proposed route for the highway
12 expansion. The map does not show our house in it's present state or detached garage.
We moved here for the rural feeling and natural beauty of this area. The location of the present
roadway is fine but we do not want to see it coming any closer. Obviously, living close to
highway 12 there is always the potential for our property to be affected by the expansion,
however, we have not seen any proposal since we moved here four years ago showing the road
closer to our homo and neighborhood. Our position is the previous plan (alternative plan 6),
with some minor adjustments, was better for our community as it had the least impact on
private residence of any proposal we had seen.
In our opinion. The City of Wayzata knew there were potential plans for highway 12 expansion
near their new public works building before they built there. We have no objection to Wayzata’s
proposal for a cul-de-sac at the end of our street, providing It is not on our property. We do
not want to see our trees on or near our property disturbed and we do not wish to have any
sections of our land chopped up just so Wayzata can have more space near their public works
building.
Sincerely,
