ELIZABETH W. NORTON
4980 DOCKSIDE DR., 9204
FORT MYERS, FLORIDA 33919^657
941-4S2-1988
1/13/97
Mayor Gabriel Jabbour and Orono Council Members
2750 Kelly Parkway
Orono, 55356
Dear Madams/Sirs:
I am now a resident of Florida, but I still own my home in Minnesota at 1399 Orono
Lane which is in Orono. I have been trying to sell my MN home for almost two
years now with no success. I have owned my home at 1399 Orono Lane since
1989 and, although I have made substantial improvements to it I have been
unable to sell it for even what I paid for it back in 1989 and have come no where
near to the $343,000 that the property is presently assessed at for tax purposes.
(The property is currently listed at $329,000 and my highest offer so far has been
$280,000). I believe that a significant determent to the sale of the property is the
noise on County Rd. 15 (about which you can do little) and the danger of ingress
and egress to Orono Lane which I believe you can reduce significantly.
I understand that there are going to be changes in County Rd #15 at the entrance
of Orono Lane. The purpose of this letter is to request that you seriously
consider moving the entrance to Orono Lane from County Road #15 to the
East, as has been previously recommended I believe, to reduce the danger
that exists novr and which may be exacerbated if the currently proposed
changes to County Rd. #15 are made. Living on the corner as I have I know
how many accidents there are (some of which are probably not reported to the
police) since my house is the house that is the closest to the entrance to #15 from
Orono Lane and people who have crashed at the corner often request the use of
my phone, usually in the middle of the night.
Your actions will probably not affect me in any way, since I hope to sell my house
this Spring, but for safety reasons for the future and to maintain the property
values on Orono Lane, I hope that you will take any action that you can to move
the entrance of Orono Lane to the East. Please listen carefully to the suggestions
of my Orono Lane neighbors!!
!^oeth W.
"2
Eliz Norton
JAN 1 5 199T
