Suburban Alliance —^Proposed Action Steps <br />Leeal <br />♦ Suburban Alliance Board of Directors continues to act as legal entity authorized to <br />take actions necessary to close agency <br />♦ City Councils dissolve joint powers agreement and therefore the organization <br />Financial <br />♦ Conduct independent preliminary review and audit of agency to determine exact <br />financial status <br />♦ Close out existing contracts; finalize emergency service arrangements with Hennepin <br />County for remainder of 1996 and first six months of 1997. <br />♦ Settle lease issues <br />♦ Collect debts owed organization <br />♦ Sell assets <br />♦ Finalize outstanding obligations (debt and close-out costs) and submit payment <br />obligations to Joint powers cities by December 31, 1996. <br />♦ Conduct independent final audit of Suburban Alliance <br />♦ Collect outstanding financial obligations from Joint powers cities <br />Logistical <br />♦ Establish agency close date of December 31, 1996. Suburban Alliance) created <br />in 1973 by cities in western Hennepin County to provide human services planning and <br />coordination <br />♦ Suburban Alliance has pro vided valuable service to the citizens of western Hennepin <br />County, but is no longer a viable organization <br />♦ Recommendation to close Suburban Alliance difficult for cities to make <br />♦ Cities and Hennepin County remain committed to human services planning and <br />coordination; this is still an important need <br />♦ Exciting opportunity to work with Hennepin County to develop human services <br />planning and coordination which meets today’s needs in western Hennepin County
