A RESOLUTION TERMINATING THE WEST HENNEPIN HUMAN SERVICES <br />PLANNING BOARD (SUBURBAN ALLIANCE) <br />WHEREAS, several cities in western Hennepin County entered into a joint powers <br />agreement dated July 5, 1973 ("the Agreement") to create the West Hennepin Human Service <br />Planning Board ("the Board"), also known as "Suburban Alliance," and <br />WHEREAS, in subsequent years, additional cities in western Hennepin County also chose <br />to participate in the Agreement: and <br />WHEREAS, at the present time, the cities participating in the Agreement are the cities of <br />Deephaven, Excelsior, Hopkins, Independence, Long Lake, Loretto, Maple Plain, Medicine lake, <br />Medina, Minnetonka, Minnctrisia, Mound, Orono, Plymouth, St. Bonifacius, Shorewood, St. Louis <br />Park, Spring Park, Tonka Bay, Wayzaia and Woodland ("the Participating Cities"); and <br />WHEREAS, the Board has operated since 1973 to provide human services planning and <br />coordination for the western portion of Hennepin County; and ' <br />WHEREAS, although the Board has provided valuable service to this area, these human <br />serv'ice needs can now be better addressed ‘hrough other means, and the Board should be dissolved; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, representatives from the cities of Hopkins, Minnetonka, Plymouth, and St. <br />Louis Park have formed a "Coordinating Committee" to oversee the Board's dissolution; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Orono, <br />Minnesota: <br />1 The City Council of the City of Orono, Minnesota, joins with the other Participating Cities <br />to terminate the Agreement and the existence of the Board. This termination will become <br />effective when all Participating Cities have filed a resolution to the same ellect \\ ith the city <br />manager of St. Louis Park. <br />After the termination becomes effective, the City of St. Louis Park, Minnesota may act for <br />all of the Participating Cities to take any necessary actions to effectuate the Board's
