REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />DATE: Janua^fl^^997 <br />ITEM NO: <br />Department Approval: <br />Name Ron Moorse <br />Title City Administrator <br />Administrator Reviewed:m Agenda Section: <br />Administrator's Report <br />Item Description: / <br />Appointment of Corey Famiok to Full Time Police Officer Position <br />In November of 1996, the Council authorized staff to proceed with a full time police officer <br />hiring process to bring the Police Department up to its full authorized sworn officer complement. <br />After a testing process, which included the city ’s two part-time police officers, Corey Famiok <br />was selected for the full time position. <br />Because the city was successful in obtaining a federal grant in the amount of $75,000 to be used <br />over a three year period, it was possible for Mr. Famiok to begin on January 1, 1997. <br />Therefore Mr. Famiok was hired effective January 1, 1997 subject to formal Council <br />appointment. Because of Mr. Famiok’s two years of service to the Police Department in <br />p«)sitions ranging from intern, to CSO, to part-time officer. Chief Cheswick has recommended <br />his pay begin at tlie one year contract rate of $15.92 per hour. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED: <br />Motion to approve the appointment of Corey Famiok to the position of full time police officer <br />effective January 1, 1997 at a starting pay rate of $15.92 per hour.
