New language from this section forward- <br />Home Occupations shall be allowed as an accessory use to a dwelling unit, subject to the following <br />conditions: <br />C. Home Occupations. <br />1. <br />2. <br />Purpose. Home occupation regulations are established to ensure that home occupations will <br />not adversely affect the character and livability of the surrounding neighborhood. The home <br />occupation shall function as an accessory and subordinate use to the principal use of the <br />dwelling unit. <br />Home Occupation Regulations. The regulations recognize that many types of home <br />occupations can be conducted with minimal or no effect on the surrounding neighborhood. <br />A.The home occupation shall be an activity which is customarily associated with <br />the use of a residential dwelling unit. <br />- B.Only the residents of the dwelling unit and not more than one (1) nonresident shall <br />be permitted per dwelling unit, regardless of the number of persons residing in the <br />dwelling unit engaged in a home occupation, as follows: <br />1.) Domestic employees shall not be considered employees of the home <br />occupation. <br />2.)A nonresident employee may include an employee, business partner, <br />independent contractor, or any other person associated with the home <br />occupation who does not reside in the dwelling unit and who is regularly at <br />the home occupation. <br />3.)Home day care licensed by the Department of Human Services (DHS) is <br />exempt from these regulations, in accordance with Miimesota Statutes. <br />C.Exterior alterations or modifications that change the residential character or <br />appearance of the dwelling unit or accessory structure to a commercial use or activity <br />shall be prohibited. <br />D. Interior alterations or modifications that eliminate the kitchen, habitable areas for <br />sleeping, and bathrooms shall be prohibited. <br />E.
