This application is regarding a new accessory building to be constructed streetward of the <br />house. <br /> <br />2. MN§15.99 Application Deadline. The application was received on May 11, 2023 and considered to <br />be complete on May 19, 2023. Therefore the 60-Day review period expires on July 18, 2023. <br /> <br />3. Background/ Summary. The applicant is proposing to construct a new accessory building <br />streetward of the principal building. The proposed building will be used as a garage with an accessory <br />dwelling unit on the second floor. Accessory buildings are required to be placed to the rear of a principal <br />building and therefore a variance for the placement is being requested. The existing home is located <br />toward the rear of the property which limits the ability to construct an accessory building in a compliant <br />location. <br /> <br />4. Planning Commission Vote and Comment. On June 20, 2023, the Planning Commission held a <br />public hearing, no public comments were made. The Commission reviewed the application and noted the <br />extreme setback of the home creates a practical difficulty. The Commission voted 5 to 0 on a motion to <br />approve the requested variance as applied with the conditions recommended by staff. <br /> <br />5. Public Comment. The applicant has provided neighbor acknowledgment forms, but no other public <br />comment has been received. <br /> <br />6. Staff Recommendation.
