The purpose of this action item is to gain approval to accept a donation to the City. <br /> <br />2. Background. In April the Orono Fire Department submitted a CenterPoint Energy Community <br />Safety Grant application for the purchase of an automatic external defibrillator (AED). This AED will be <br />added to our ladder truck (L-1). The grant amount of $1,150 covers 50% of the new AED which is <br />$2,297.00. <br /> <br />Since 2003, the Community Safety Grant Program has awarded more than $3 million in donations to <br />communities throughout their service area. In 2023 the program awarded nearly $104,000 to 49 <br />communities to support safety projects. The City is thankful to CenterPoint Energy for providing this <br />program in its service area and proud to participate with them in the funding of public safety needs. <br /> <br />3.
