Walt Lathrop, Park Conmission Chairman
FROM:John R. Gerhardson, Public Works Supervisor
DATE:August 6, 1976
SUBJECT: Bruce Dayton property. East Long Lake Road
In July, 1976 Mr. Benson requested that I look into the
property at 455 East Long Lake Road. It is my understanding
that Mr. Dayton would like to give this property to the
City of Orono for park use.
The property is five acres, of which approximately 60X is
heavily wooded. In the wooded area there is .6 acre wet*
lands. There is 500 feet of lakeshore. In checking with
some of the local people they stated it is the best swimming
beach on the lake.
Also on this property is one very old single family dwelling
and one small beach house. I talked to Mr. Bernard Statema,
the caretaker for Mr. Dayton, and he recommended razing the
buildings.
The 1976 market value is $63,000, and the taxes for this
year are $1,834.28.
The cost for razing the buildings is approximately $1,500.
. i
'i
« •
