2515 North Shore Drive, Orono MN Wetland Delineation Report

6

Worksheet Using Gridded Database method, and above the normal range based on available 30-
day rolling total precipitation (Appendix C).

Wetland 1 was a Type 3/2 (PEM1C/PEM1B) shallow marsh wetland with a wet meadow fringe.
The shallow marsh portion was dominated by reed canary grass and narrowleaf cattail and the
wet meadow fringe was dominated by lake sedge. Free water was observed at 15 inches below
the soil surface and saturated soils were observed 12 inches below the surface in the wetland
sample borehole. Other indicators of wetland hydrology included geomorphic position and the
FAC-Neutral Test.

The surrounding upland was dominated by Kentucky bluegrass. No primary or additional
secondary indicators of wetland hydrology were observed in the upland.

The delineated boundary followed slight changes in topography and the transition from a
hydrophytic plant community to an upland plant community. Wetland 1 was shown as a PEM1C
on the NWI map and was mapped on hydric soils (Tadkee-Tadkee, depressional, complex and
Muskego, Blue Earth, and Houghton soils) according to the soil survey. Wetland 1 was
connected to the wetland to the west via a driveway culvert.

4.4 Other Areas
It was initially suspected the shoreline along the southern boundary might have a wetland fringe
but during the site visit no fringe was present. The shoreline consisted of steep sloping rock
riprap and abruptly transitioned to an aquatic environment.

4.5 MnRAM Analysis Results
A MnRAM analysis were completed for Wetland 1 to determine applied buffer width. MnRAM
output results are included in Appendix D. A summary of MnRAM results plus the watershed
district applied buffer width is provided in Table 2 on the following page.

4.5 Request for Wetland Boundary and Jurisdictional Determination
Appendix A of this report includes a Joint Application Form for Activities Affecting Water
Resources in Minnesota, which is submitted to the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District
(MCWD) in request for a wetland boundary and type determination under the Minnesota
Wetland Conservation Act (WCA).
