I <br /> recently received information from Swedlund Septic Service indicating your intent to <br /> construct and install an outhouse on the property. The request to construct an outhouse <br /> on Big Island is denied for the following two reasons: <br /> 1) An outhouse is only allowed for seasonal dwellings of less than 800 square feet, <br /> your structure is larger than 800 square feet. <br /> 2) The soil boring submitted by Swedlund indicates mottled soil at four feet below <br /> grade at the proposed site of the outhouse. The State of Minnesota Chapter 7080 <br /> Septic Systems Regulations require that the outhouse meet a three foot separation <br /> to mottled soil from the bottom of the privy hole. The code also requires that the <br /> privy be filled in when the solids are within one foot of grade.
