Lot 2 was dominated by very old Acer saccharum individuals for a relative abundance of
58%. There was a mixture of dead and healthy individuals. Among the large Acer saccharum
individuals was Tilia americana which was the second most dominant species in lot 2 with many
large trees an a relative abundance of 16%. There appeared to be much upland regeneration of
Acer saccharum and Prunus serotina saplings where the large dead trees left a canopy gap. Lot 2
appears to have little presence of Rhamnus cathartica. Potentially some of the large dead trees
could be removed to create more growing space for the next generation.
