March 20. 1993
BURNET REALTY 315 East Lake Street. Wayzata, MN 55391
ATTN: Mr Davis MaGee (612) 473-3000 473 -3932 -(fax)
SUBJECT: 12' PRODUCTION WELL SKI TONKA SITE - PAINTERS CREEK
DEVELOPMENT CORP POTABLE WATER SOURCE QUOTATION
Dear Davis.
E.H. RENNER & SONS. INC. is pleased to he given the opportunity to
provide you a quotation to upgrade the #;xisting old SKI TONKA well
for potable residential use.
In conversations with Mr Jim Stevens at the Minnesota Department of
Health, this well must be tested for possiible contamination from
the oil lubricated lineshaft turbine th,+t, was removed by RENNER in
late 1985. This pump was used only for t h•_ snow making operations
at the ski hill during its few years of operations. We expect a
few feet of light oil to be floating on top of the water which must
be removed by bailer or pump and disposed of in accordance with
MPCA guidelines. The well :should be air lifted and jetted with
biodegradable foaming agent approved by the 11DH to assure that the
oil has been fully removed from the well.
A submersible pump must then be placed into the well and pumped to
displace 3-5 volumes of water pric•- to sampling. A list of
parameters involving (VOC's) volatile organic compounds. iron,
maganese. nitrate. coliform bacteria. end total hardness should be
run to determine the potability of this; well before you spend any
additional monies to convert the well for domestic use.
The work is described in EXHIBIT A which itemizes our work to clean
the well and provide a water quality sample.
If you should have any questions concerning this phase one
determination, please feel free to call. E.N. RENNER & SONS. INC.
can provide you the complete services to install the permanent
pump. piping into the building. pressure tanks. controls. and well
notifications to the HDH as required.
Sincerely Submitted.
Roger E.
