Pursuant to
that inspection you submittt-d a soils investigation report dated
11/21/63 which proposes a suitable repair to your failing system. You
have followed up on this by contacting contractor- to bid on the
actual repairs.
This letter is written at your request to inform you of the City
codes regarding the septic system inspection and repairs. To address
your questions:
1. Orono does not have a "housing code". Orono does not require
that a septic system be upgraded at the time a house is sold.
2. Orono's code does require that when a septic system is found
to be failing, it must be repaired (or replaced, as necessary)
regardless whether or not the house is being sold.
3. Orono will continue to provide an inspection of all existing
septic systems in the City on a regular basis and require repairs
as failing systems are identifies'..
Please contact me at 473-7357 if you have further questions.
MPG/tln
Sincerely, ,
Michael P.
