r <br />WEIEREAS, the representatives reached consensus on the following Statement of Purpose: <br />To promote the development and preservation of a supply of quality housing <br />that includes a range of housing types and costs that meet housing needs at <br />all stages of life and are affordable for households at all income levels: and <br />WHEREAS, the City representatives determined the Statement of Purpose should be <br />brought to all Lake Area City Councils for a resolution of support; and <br />WHEREAS, the representatives agreed that the next step beyond the endorsement of the <br />Statement of Purpose is to conduct an assessment of specific housing needs to assist the Lake Area <br />Cities in focusing their cooperative housing efforts. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the City Council of the City of Orono <br />does hereby indicate its support of the Statement of Purpose as stated above, to guide the cooperative <br />housing efforts in the lake area. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Orono does also hereby <br />authorize the City Administrator, as well as other interested appointed and elected officials of the <br />City, to continue their involvement in cooperative housing efforts, particularly an assessment of <br />specific housing needs in the City of Orono and the lake area; with the condition that further <br />authorization will be required prior to the City incurring financial obligations in relation to the <br />cooperative housing efforts. <br />Adopted by the City Council at a regular meeting held on October 25,1999. <br />ATTEST <br />Linda S.
