TO: <br />FROM: <br />DATE: <br />Mayor and City Council <br />Ron Moorse, City Administrator <br />October 11,1999 <br />SUBJECT: Maple Plain Volunteer Fire Department Budgeting <br />Attached is a fax memo from the Maple Plain Fire Chief inviting the Mayor and City Council to a <br />meeting to discuss the Fire Department's capital and operating budgets. <br />Several months ago. Chief Eisinger indicated they were looking at a potential significant increase <br />in firefighter pay that could affect their operating budget. The City did not receive any follow-up <br />infurmation that would have assisted us in developing the City's 2000 budget. I will have a serious <br />concern if this meeting is the forum for presenting a budget proposal that would have a significant <br />impact on the City's 2000 budget. <br />It is important the Fire Chief, as well as the City of Maple Plain, understands that the Fire <br />Department expenditure levels need to be planned so that they do not cause large increases to City <br />budgets in any one year.
