Govern Software Memo <br />October?, 1999 <br />Page 2 <br />Chris Pence, <br />Septic Inspector <br />Greg Gappa, <br />Public Services <br />Director <br />Govern will provide a tracking system that can be managed by the <br />City for building permits, zoning applications and code enforcement. <br />Our current system (LOGIS) does not allow the City to manage the <br />database or use any records within another software program. <br />Govern will allow the City to format reports and inspection records. <br />Govern provides property information such as, open and closed <br />violations, building permits, site plans, zoning requests and <br />resolutions at each workstation. It also will provide accurate and <br />complete information. <br />Searches can be made by street address, property identification <br />numbers, permit numbers, vtc. <br />Govern is linked to a database that can be linked to GIS software. <br />Arc View and Arclnfo. The property information can be easily used <br />in GIS without data duplication or conversion. <br />Govern has a number of features that will combine the Finance <br />Department with other departments for cash collection and tracking <br />fees to be forwarded to developers. <br />Check list for subdivision applications; ability to print a status report <br />to be forwarded to developer; would allow any staff person to view <br />the status of an application. <br />Govern provides simplification and better organization of records <br />Information is assessable to staff and in tb<» fiiture the public would <br />have access to view records <br />Future Internet access available for on-line peimit application <br />Organization of files and ability to track compliant and non- <br />compliant systems <br />Complaint tracking <br />Ability to show on-site locations for lawn sprinklers, septic systems <br />(both primary and alternate) <br />Digital camera capabilities would show construction in process <br />(original site, on-going work, final product, picture of tanks, etc.) <br />Reporting system could be created so septic owners would better <br />understand what they have on their property and how it works. <br />Govern offers a land record system <br />Eas> to customize <br />GIS data base could be an asset for other departments such as Public <br />Works to track street and sewer improvements and lift station data.
