The plan was to delete the proposed maintenance shed addition from the Golf <br />Course Capital Budget and purchase the two new mowers. Purchase of these mowers is necessary <br />because of mechanical problems with the existing Steiner mower. The Steiner mower will be <br />traded in for the new fairway mower. Quotations were received for both mowers. The approved <br />quotation for the TORO rough mower was $15,921 from MTI distributing. This is under the <br />$25,000 limit requirement for advertising for sealed bids. <br />The approved quotation for the TORO Fairway Mower including the trade in allowance and sales <br />tax was $22,960.34 However, further investigation revealed that the value of the trade in mower <br />must be considered for the $25,000 limit. With the $3,500 value for the trade in mower value <br />included, the total value was over the $25,000 threshold for sealed bids. <br />Adverting for sealed bids was completed with an August 2nd bid opening. Two sealed bids were <br />received. <br />Total Bid Price (Includes trade in allowance and sales tax) <br />MTI Distributing, Plymouth MN, TORO Reelmaster 5200 Fairway Mower $22,960.33 <br />Cushman Motor Company, Minneapolis MN, kansomes 250 Fairway Mower $23,470.00 <br />The TORO Reelmaster 5200 Fairway Mower meets the bid specification requirements and is the <br />lowest responsible bid received. Staffs recommendation is to awaid the bid to MTI Distributing <br />for the TORO Fairway mower with payment from the Golf Course Fund. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED: <br />Motion to award bid for purchase of a TORO Reelmaster 5200 Fairway Mower from MTI <br />Distributing, Plymouth MN for $22,960.34. <br />Motion to amend the 1999 Golf Course Capital Outlay Budget to delete the maintenance shed <br />addition and approve the purchase of a Fairway Mower for $22,960.34
