ORONO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />MINUTES FOR JULY 12,1999 <br />CITY ADMINISTRATOR’S REPORT <br />(#12) APPOINTMENT OF TEMPORARY, PART-TIME ON-SITE SEPTIC <br />INSPECTOR <br />Moorse said the purpose is to have Steve Weckman available for septic inspection services <br />until the new inspector is on board. <br />Kelley said he objects to rehiring someone that has made a decision to leave the City ’s <br />employment. <br />Flint said it is a short-term problem and this is a solution. <br />Sansevere asked if Moorse had contacted Weckman or if Weckman contacted Moorse. <br />Moorse said it was discussed before Weckman left that there would be an interim period when <br />the City may need Wecknum ’s services. <br />Gappa said there are projects in process where septic system inspection services are needed to <br />meet the required time limits. <br />Sansevere asked if Weckman left on good terms. <br />Moorse said yes. <br />Sansevere moved, Peterson seconded, to approve the appointment of Steve Weckman to <br />a Temporary Part-Time Septic Inspector position at a pay rate of $21.00 per hour with <br />no benefits, effective July 13,1999, with the condition Aat the position will terminate <br />no later than November 1,1999. VOTE: Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />(*#13) PROPOSED SCHEDULE FOR SUMMER HOURS <br />Kelley moved, Flint seconded, to approve the proposed office hours schedule of 7:30 <br />a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday - Thursday; and 7:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m., Friday, a notice of the <br />new schedule will be posted at the City facilities’ entrance lobbies, and a news release <br />wUl be placed in the local newspapers, indicating the new schedule will begin on <br />Monday, July 19 and end on Friday, September 3. VOTE: Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />Page 20
