IV. Recommendations
The following recommendations are made for the proposed Mooney Lake outlet:
2.
3.
Route. The route outlined in Option 1 is preferred and is shown in Figure 3. This
route could be modified slightly depending on the desires of the owner of the
property between Mooney Lake and County Road 6.
Operation. A pumping rate of 1 cfs is recommended for the lift station. The
normal water level for Mooney Lake would be allowed to fluctuate between 987
and 988, with the expected high water level for the 10-day 100-year event at
990.9. Pumping would be considered at a water elevation of 988 and would be
conducted during off-peak conditions in early spring or late fall. An operating
plan which ties operation of the pump to the elevation of downstream water
bodies in sensitive areas would be developed. The plan would also address who
would operate the system.
Costs. Preliminary cost estimates for this option are as follows:
Construction:
Lift station
Pipe, manholes
Access
Easements
Power
Restoration
Contingency
$70,000-580,000
$40,000-550,000
0
0
520,000-525,000
$10,000-515,000
$40,000-550,000
TOTAL 5180,000-5220,000
Annual Operation and Maintenance:
Electricity (60 days of pumping) $ 1,000
Maintenance, inspection $750
Parts, etc. $250
TOTAL $2,000/yr.
