Estimated Cost:$180,000-$220,000
Option 2
Description: This route is located approximately parallel to and several hundred feet east
of the route for Option 1. The pipe would again be a combination of force main and
gravity pipe about 1,300 feet in length with a north-south alignment from the south
shoreline of Mooney Lake. The discharge point would be a small wetland on the north
side of County Road 6 just east of Femdale Road. The discharge would then be carried in
existing drainage swales and pipes to Hadley Lake.
Advantages:
May not need to install a pipe under County Road 6, since a corrugated
metal pipe imder the road from the small wetland already exists.
Disadvantages:
The elevation change between the lake and the wetland is large, which
will require a large, more expensive lift station.
Easement costs are likely to be very high
Tree loss would be moderate to significant, since the route between the
lake and County Road 6 is wooded.
The Mooney Lake discharge could exacerbate existing problems with
erosion along the open channel portion of the conveyance system
south of County Road 6
There are currently no drainage easements covering a portion of the
route south of County Road 6.
Estimated Cost:$210,000-$250,000
Option 3
Description: This proposal would involve withdrawing water from the southeast bay of
Mooney Lake and carrying the water in a combination of force main and gravity pipe for
approximately 1,300 feet in an easterly direction to an existing catch basin at 18* Avenue
and Ranier Lane in Plymouth.
Advantages:
Connects directly to an existing in-place storm sewer, so there would
be no erosion problem at the outlet of the pipe from the lake.
Approximately 50% of the length of the route lies within City-owned
park property and existing easements, so easement costs could be
reduced.
The small elevation change (about 15 feet) would result in a smaller,
lower cost lift station requiring only single phase power.
L.
