c
request for council action
Date: June 11,1999
Item No
Department Approval: Administrator Approval:
Name: MichaelP. Gaf&on
Title: Senior Planning Coordinator
Agenda Section: .
• Zoning
Item Description: #2439 - Service 800 Road Agreement - 2nd Amendment of Deadline
List of Exhibits
A - Second Amendment to Road Agreement &
B - Transmittal Letter
C - First Amendment to Road Agreement
D - May 17 Letter from Hugh Maynard
Cliff Otten appUed to MnDOT for reconveyance of the 'Brimhall triangle' proper^ in April, but the
MnDOT revfewprocess is taking longer than anticipated. As of this mormng, we beheve the process
should be completed by the end of July.
The deadlines in the Road Agreement were estabUshed to keep the proc«s mo^g towmd
completion. Staff has no problem recommending the extension of the May 31 deadhne foi
MnD^OTs reconveyance approval, for an additional two mon*s to July 31 (the attached document
extends it only to June 30 - we wiU have a corrected version for Monday s meetmg).
Safety Concerns Regarding Full Turning Movements
concerns about the safety of providing full turning movements at the Brmihall location. They
anticipate that, given the level of traffic on Highway 12, full left tummg movements may create
siety problems at the intersection. If this occurs, Mn/DOT would have the authonty to eliminate
some of the left turn movements.
Currently, the properties on the south side of Highway 12 have Ml ^g movements at tte
Brimhall intersection. MnffJOT initially indicated it would
movements on both the north and south side of the mtersect.on be limited to left turns m
left turns out not be allowed. Although this would ht preferred by Service 800
out only access, it would be problematic for the existmg busmesses on the south side of Highway
12 who currently have the left turn out access.
j
