Brennan, Jr. <br />1111 Tamarack <br />Property ID No. 26118-23-31-0007 <br />1998 Valuation $195,300.00 <br />1999 Valuation $211,000.00 <br />Dear Members of the Board of Review: <br />When I received my valuation increase for 1999 I contacted the Assessor’s Office. 1 was <br />advised by Kim Jensen that they would do a review and respond. I wrote a letter on March 24, <br />1999 requesting a review. <br />Not receiving a response to my telephone conference with Kim Jensen or my March 24, <br />1999 correspondence, I called Tom in the Assessor’s Office on this date. <br />I was advised that the Assessor’s Office felt the valuation of $211,000 was correct. 1 <br />asked Tom for comparable sales of homes w ithout basements and I was advised that there were <br />none. Tom stated that they would probably have to go outside of Orono to find a comparable <br />property. I believe that the fact that this home lacks a basement detracts from the market value; <br />therefore, the Assessor’s Office cannot justify an 8% increase in this property’s value for 1999. I <br />feel the value is closer to $200,000 rather than $211,000.
