« • <br />ORONO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />MINUTES FOR MARCH 22, 1999 <br />‘(#25) RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE TAKING OF LAND BY EMINENT DOMAIN FOR <br />EASEMENT PURPOSES FOR ACCESS TO THE SAGA HILL PARK AREA - RESOLUTION <br />NO. 4261 <br />Sansevere moved, Flint seconded, to approve and adopt RESOLUTION NO. 4261, <br />a Resolution Authorizing the Taking of Land by Eminent Domain for Road, Trail, <br />Drainage and Utilities Easement Purposes Related to the Saga Hill Park Area. <br />VOTE: Ayes 4, Nays 0. <br />CITY ATTORNEY’S REPORT <br />City Attorney Barrett requested an executive session to discuss pending litigation <br />OTHER ISSUES <br />Flint noted that two special events will be held in Orono on May 2, 1999. Flint inquired whether <br />anyone has contacted the Orono Police Department as far as traffic issues. <br />Moorse indicated City Staff will notify the Orono Police Department of the upcoming events. <br />‘(#26) LICENSES <br />Sansevere moved, Flint seconded, to approve the following licenses. <br />VOTE: Ayes 4, Nays 0. <br />SPECIAL EVENT PERMIT <br />Norwest Bank Minnesota, N.A. <br />Half Marathon <br />May 2,1999 <br />8:00 a.m. • 11:00 a.m. <br />American Diabetes Association <br />Bike Tour on Luce Line <br />June 6,1999 <br />9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. <br />•(#27) BILLS <br />Sansevere moved, Flint seconded, to approve payment of the All Funds Account <br />VOTE: Ayes 4, Nays 0. <br />(#28) APPOINTMENT OF PART-TIME POLICE OFFICER AND FULL-TIME COMMUNITY <br />SERVICE OFFICER <br />Moorse stated City Staff is recommending the hiring of a new part-time police officer. Moorse <br />suggested the part-time CSC person be appointed to that position and a new CSO person be <br />hired. <br />Page 11
